DIRECTOR'S MESSAGE

Ever since its establishment in 1928, the Department of Historical and Antiquarian Studies, Assam has maintained steady progress in the accomplishment of its objects. It has made a remarkable progress with the continued help from the Government, the sympathy of the public and the association of Scholars.With its significant Collection of Manuscripts and Rare books and record of valuable publications the Department has won for itself a recognized position in this state. The Department’s Collections, particularly the illustrated manuscripts, are greatly appreciated by eminent visitors to this Department every year and the value of the collection and the necessity to work upon them and to bring them to light have also been recognized by Scholars. There is however, a planty of works to be done particularly with regard to collection and publication. There is a vast scope for these works on the manuscripts and other materials preserved in the Department of Historical and Antiquarian Studies, Assam, Guwahati-1.
So, for compilation and publication of these materials, the Government, public and Scholars are requested to come forward and help us in executing our works.
